After completing undergraduate and medical school training at University of California, Davis, Dr. Deramo moved to Texas and completed General Surgery residency at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. He then pursued Plastic Surgery fellowship at UT Houston / Texas Medical Center campus. Here, he trained at Memorial Hermann hospital, the busiest trauma center in the country, as well as the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center where he met Dr. Mecham. His training focused heavily on free flap breast and extremity reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, and complex hand and facial trauma reconstruction. He has numerous publications in the fields of general and plastic surgery and received research grant funding to study lower extremity amputation nerve surgery (targeted muscle reinnervation) outcomes.
Utah is a special place for the Deramo family. Dr. Deramo and his wife Jenni got married in the Wasatch mountains 8 years ago and, along with their 2 young children, have moved to Utah to rejoin their family. Dr. Deramo and his wife have traveled to Central and South America on multiple medical mission trips to provide health care and correction of craniofacial malformations to Peruvian villagers. He considers it an honor and privilege to practice plastic surgery. He listens closely to each patient, deeply cares about their goals, and strives to help them be the best version of the themselves.
