What is a thigh lift?

A surgical thigh lift may be right for you if your efforts to lose weight and look fit haven’t given you the results you hoped for. Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thigh by reducing excess skin and fat to create smoother, toner contours of the thighs and lower body. Thigh lift surgery is recommended in cases where skin elasticity is poor and is therefore less inclined to conform to new body contours.

Who are ideal candidates for a thigh lift?

Candidates for a thigh lift generally include the following:

  • People who maintain a stable weight
  • Individuals with extra soft tissue along the inner/outer thigh
  • Health individuals who don’t have any serious medical conditions
  • Non-smokers
  • People who are committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle following surgery

Consultation

When meeting with Dr. Mecham be prepared to discuss the following:

  • Surgical goals, why you want breast augmentation, and your desired outcome
  • Allergies or past treatments
  • Current medications and supplements that you are taking
  • Any previous surgeries

Dr. Mecham will also examine and take detailed measurements of your body as well as photos for before and after. She will also discuss any risks and potential complications that may occur.

The Procedure

STEP 1: ANESTHESIA
For your general comfort Dr. Mecham will administer intravenous sedation or general anesthesia for the duration of the surgery.
STEP 2: THE INCISION
Incisions are made in inconspicuous areas to minimize visible scarring. Dr. Mecham will discuss with you which incision options are appropriate for your desired outcome.
STEP 3: CLOSING THE INCISIONS
Deep support sutures within underlying tissues help to form the newly shaped contours. Sutures close the skin incisions.
STEP 4: RESULTS
After a short period of swelling and bruising Рwhich is absolutely normal Рthe smoother, tighter contouring that result in a thigh lift will become apparent. The skin quality in these areas will become noticeably smoother and softer.

Risks & Safety

There are risks involved with every type of surgery. Dr. Mecham will go over these carefully with you. The decision to receive thigh lift surgery is a highly personal choice. Only you can decide if the risks and potential complications are acceptable.

Recovery and Results

Once your procedures are complete Dr. Mecham will apply compression garments or elastic bandages to help control swelling and compress the skin to your new body contours. In addition, she may place small temporary drains to remove any excess blood or fluids.

Your improved body contour will be apparent once the swelling and fluid retention subsides. This swelling is perfectly normal and expected.

Dr. Mecham will provide you with very detailed instructions on how to care for your incisions after your surgery. You may be prescribed some additional medications to aid in the healing process.
